Sinewave partners with Planet Mark to meet carbon footprint goals

Swindon-based electrical engineering company Sinewave has announced a carbon footprint reduction partnership with the sustainability certification Planet Mark.

This will be especially challenging for Sinewave, which is best known as one of the UK’s largest installers of electric vehicle rapid chargers, as much of the company’s fleet are vans that require heavy load and towing capability over long distances.

Planet Mark already works with companies like Centrica and SP Energy Networks from the utilities sector, along with hundreds of other household names and has made the news recently with its ‘carbon battle bus’ Tour of the UK, arriving recently as part of an EV cavalcade into Glasgow for COP26.

Adam Woodley, Sinewave’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, said, “It’s always been my ambition to have Sinewave give back. We want to be a power for good. This year we worked hard on this with our team remapping our culture, investing more in benefits and perks creating what we hope is a first-class working environment.

“In parallel, we have been working on the next step, our carbon footprint. For the past six months, we have been gathering data from all areas of our business to establish our existing footprint which we will publish. We have set an ambitious goal. We have initially committed to reducing our footprint by 10% or more every year. We plan to be carbon neutral by 2026 and net-zero by 2030.”

Adam continued, “We also want to do this right. We will use an external body to measure our footprint and hold us to account every year, with quarterly reviews internally and share results with you. Planet Mark was appointed to support us on this journey earlier this year. Its mission is to empower its members to build a sustainable, brighter future for us and our planet.”

Earlier this year Sinewave announced a range of additional perks to its staff which included enhanced car allowances and salary sacrifice options should employees opt into a company EV to start this process.

Steve Malkin, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Planet Mark, said, “It is great to see Sinewave join the Planet Mark community.

“I am delighted to see its rigorous approach to tackling its own carbon emissions. We have seen first-hand on the Zero Carbon Tour, in our fully electric coach, the challenges of the EV charging infrastructure but have also seen the innovative solutions being rolled out across the UK, which gives great hope.

“More companies and sectors working to reduce our collective carbon footprint will overcome the challenges we all face to ensure a decarbonised future. I’m delighted with the progress Sinewave has made to date and look forward to even more success in the following years.”
