SEQOL supports Swindon Mindful Employer initiative

SEQOL are displaying their commitment to the Swindon Mindful Employer Network by providing free publicity display equipment which helps to promote the initiative.

SEQOL is an accredited social enterprise focused on supporting people to make the most of their lives. As part of this, SEQOL provides a range of community health and social care services, and an award winning supported employment service for local people.

The Supported Employment Service offers skill matching, job coaching and placement support to enable local employers to recruit people who face barriers to employment. This support can be through Enterprise Works, where people are trained in timber, assembly and signage or through working with local companies to help them in their recruitment processes and enable them to discover the hidden talent they could be overlooking.

SEQOL’s Enterprise Works signage team came to the aid of the Swindon Mindful Employer Network by offering to produce professional displays for the initiative. The local network increases awareness of mental health and wellbeing in the workplace and was formed in 2008. It provides regular popular conferences, awareness sessions and courses which are free to local businesses and employers. Future planned events will include Managing Workplace Stress: into the Economic Recovery which takes place at Nationwide House in April. The recent session on bipolar disorder received a full house at the Jurys Inn Swindon and was the first event it had organised since the network moved to be part of Swindon Mind.

David Latham, who manages the Swindon Mindful Employer Network at Swindon Mind, said: “We were very pleased to hear that SEQOL are once again supporting our initiative in the town – this time by helping with valuable publicity material. This is another demonstration of how the network works in partnership with local employers to promote mental health issues in the workplace.”

Heather Mitchell, Chief Executive of SEQOL, commented: “SEQOL is committed in our support of the Swindon Mindful Employer Network through our work with individuals and families we understand that people who experience mental health difficulties can often face barriers to maintaining or entering employment. The Mindful Employer initiative is very positive in supporting change and improvements within businesses. We look forward to continuing to engage with the thriving local Mindful Employer network.”
