Selwood Housing shows commitment to providing affordable homes

By Anita Jaynes on 27 December, 2016

Selwood Housing has started selling homes on the open market in an innovative new venture, Cottsbury Homes. This is in response to the decrease in housing rental income and ensures it is still able to build and develop more affordable homes for those who need them within its community.

Paul Walsh, group development director said: “We are committed to providing affordable homes to our community and hope to be building 200 homes a year starting in 2017. In order to ensure we continue to have the capital to achieve this goal we have created Cottsbury Homes to sell properties on the open market.”

The first development of Cottsbury Homes is at Longford Road in Melksham. The two 3 bedroom homes were completed by Wildmoor Construction and were handed over to Selwood on November 10 2016. These homes were quickly snapped up within a week of being on the market providing a healthy profit to invest back into affordable housing.

The homes are of a high specification and come with a downstairs WC, family bathroom, en-suite, garage and parking space as well as a sleek integrated kitchen.
