Businesses across Wiltshire are being urged to enter one of the region’s top awards schemes recognising excellence and enterprise.
The Institute of Directors’ South West Director of the Year Awards 2017 seek to recognise outstanding leaders and entrepreneurs and focus UK-wide attention on success in the region.
Award nominations are open to anyone working at director level in any type of business or organisation– they don’t have to be an IoD member.
Categories include: Family Business, Public Sector, Not for Profit/Third Sector, International, Corporate Responsibility, Young Director and Director.
A panel of experts will judge the entries and the winners will be announced at a dinner on May 25 at Ashton Gate Stadium, Bristol.
Last year’s winners included Simon Barbato, managing director of Bath-based digital and marketing agency Mr B and Friends; Mark Crutchley, Director of the Circadian Trust, a social enterprise that delivers sport and leisure facilities in partnership with South Gloucestershire Council: Brady George, Managing Director of Keynsham- based facilities management company Almeda Facilities; James Piper, commercial director of ecosurety, in Bristol, enabling members across FMCG, manufacturing, imports, technology and retail sectors to meet waste obligations under UK and EU regulations and Andrew Robinson, Managing Director of specialist welding engineering company Arc Energy Resources, near Gloucester .
Brady George went on to win the national award for Leadership in Corporate Responsibility.
IoD South West chairman Nick Sturge, a winner in 2014 and Director of the enterprise hub Engine Shed, Bristol, said:“These awards recognise and celebrate the role of business and enterprise leaders and their contribution to the diverse economy of the South West, from aerospace, technology and tourism through to our reputation in the creative industries and social enterprise. There are some exciting businesses in this region, from start ups to multi million pound turnover international players, many of whom don’t get the recognition they deserve.
This year we really want to stretch the net wide and urge businessss who perhaps haven’t thought about entering before to give it a go. As a former winner, I can testify to the privilege of achieving one of these awards and the exposure it brings.”
South West winners are eligible to go forward to the UK Director Awards in London in the autumn. The entry form and more details are available by calling 0117 3707785, by emailing, email@example.com or by going online www.iod.com/southwest
