Sara Tye shortlisted in First Women Awards 2016

Sara Tye, entrepreneur, mentor, athlete, founder and managing director of redheadPR and CEO of luxury cycling company, Etape Suisse, is one of five finalists in the First Women in Media category in the First Women Awards 2016.
The First Women Awards launched in 2005 and is the UK’s leading awards programme for senior businesswomen and professionals. Supported by leading UK firms, industry bodies and business leaders, its influence and impact in the business community are huge.

On being shortlisted in the First Women in Media category, Sara said: “This is a great honour. My career so far, from working at major businesses, through forming redheadPR to managing my property portfolio and becoming CEO at Etape Suisse, has been an amazing journey. Keeping that journey going means evolving continuously and staying ahead of the curve. It’s a never-ending challenge – but I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Sara headed up communications at Yellow Pages, developed stakeholder relations in-house at Thames Water Utilities and was the personal PR internationally for The Body Shop’s founder, the late Dame Anita Roddick.

Highlights of Sara’s career include:

·Playing a key role in the development and management of the philanthropic Best Practice process at Yellow Pages. Sara was responsible for the Impact on Society section of The European Foundation of Quality Management Model and Award, which Yellow Pages won in 1999

·Using her connections to facilitate two visits to UTC Swindon by The Duke of York, KG. In 2015, Prime Minister David Cameron and the Conservative Party cabinet launched their general election manifesto at the college

·Through apprenticeship schemes, Sara gives young people their first taste of working life at redheadPR. Alongside the vocational education, she provides guidance and mentoring in an environment where these people can flourish
redheadPR designs and manages digital campaigns involving design, profile building, marketing and online PR. Businesses such as Stewart Garden, a leading British manufacturer and distributor of gardening products, have made their businesses profitable with invaluable help from Sara and the redheadPR team.

The four other finalists in the First Women in Media category are:

– Shamim Sarif, novelist, screenwriter, film director, Enlightenment Productions
– Sarah Tierney, founder & CEO, We Are Colony

The winners will be announced on 22 June 2016 at an awards dinner at the Lancaster London Hotel, hosted by the comedian, writer, presenter and actress, Katherine Ryan.
