Swindon-based electrical engineering company, Sinewave Energy Solutions Ltd, (Sinewave) received a visit from the Rt Hon Robert Buckland QC MP this week (18th August) to its headquarters on Kembrey Street.

Sinewave invited Robert to visit due to the Government’s interest in renewable energy and Sinewave’s growing presence in the sector. The MP  also learned about the impact that COVID-19 has had on Sinewave and the schemes the firm has taken advantage of as lockdown has eased.

Adam Woodley, co-founder and managing director of Sinewave, said, “We are incredibly grateful to Robert for his visit. We were able to show him the design, installation and connection process for electric vehicle charging stations and discuss our fantastic growth in the sector. We were also able to share our experiences of how Covid-19 had impacted our business and how we remained positive and operational throughout.”

He continued, “We were pleased to outline how we have taken advantage of the furlough scheme and are planning to use the recently announced additional support for employing apprentices, as well as employing our first member of staff on the kickstart scheme. It was also very valuable to get some insight from Robert on Government support for the renewables sector, and some great contacts for further education and technology establishments.”

Speaking about his visit, Robert Buckland said, “Seeing a Swindon business operating so successfully within the fast growth renewables sector was a pleasure, especially as their MD Adam is Swindon born and bred. It was fascinating to see the design process and infrastructure required to install rapid chargers, including the cabling and switchgear usually hidden from view. The UK Government is committed to expanding the UK electric vehicle charging network and seeing how the Rapid Charging Fund commitment made in May will positively impact the physical network was insightful.”

He added, “Hearing how Sinewave both coped during COVID-19 and has incredible growth plans within the renewables sector was a real highlight. I look forward to hearing more in the future.”
