Calling all quiz lovers: Swindon chartered accountants Banks BHG will be staging their popular charity brainteaser next month and are counting on getting lots of entries.
The fun quiz on Thursday April 28 is open to teams of four and all proceeds will go towards the company’s charity of the year, Julia’s House, which is aiming to open the first children’s hospice in Wiltshire.
Already, staff at the Stratton-based firm have raised several hundreds of pounds, including more than £680 by entering a team in the Devizes 10km run. The team comprised Tracey Heath, Adam Burroughs, Esha Akram, Neil Elsden, Rowena Gonsalves and Kathryn Milward.
The quiz takes place at the De Vere Village Hotel, West Swindon. Entry is £5 per head for teams of four and several teams have already registered to take part, mainly from among local businesses and Banks BHG associates.
“The quiz always goes down well and, more importantly, gives a good boost to our charity funds,” said Banks BHG director Neil Elsden. “We picked Julia’s House as our charity this year because we were so impressed with the work they do in trying to get a children’s hospice built in Wiltshire. Such a facility seems, to us, vital for children and their families at such a difficult time.”
Ged said: “We are thrilled and delighted with all the fantastic support we are receiving from Banks BHG and this event is just one of many planned during 2016.”
Julia’s House has bought a property in Devizes and planning permission has just been secured. Ged added: “This is the green light for our hospice dream for Wiltshire to become a reality. Now we have permission to convert the buildings we can concentrate on the exciting job of creating the look and feel of the new hospice.”
Other events planned for the year by Banks BHG include a charity walk, a golf day and a repeat of the annual office bake-off.
