NSBRC spring show to promote ‘self build’ homes this May

Swindon’s own National Self Build & Renovation Centre (NSBRC) will be celebrating this year’s  National Custom and Self Build Week 2018 by hosting the Spring edition of its Self Build & Renovation Show from 11-13 May.

The National Custom and Self Build Week 2018 takes place between the 7-13 May and includes a series of events that encourage people to find out more about pursuing their ambition of building a home.

One of the “key aims” of the week is to help more people understand the many ways it is now possible to get a new home built. This could be from buying a plot and commissioning a bespoke new home, as popularised by C4’s Grand Designs, through to DIY Self Build or working together with members of the local community to build affordable homes for shared ownership or rent.

According to NSBRC, its spring show is a “brilliant” event if you are interested in creating a new home, thinking about extending your existing home or renovating a tired property.

Over 250 exhibitors will be showcasing the very latest building products and technologies, with experienced representatives on hand to demonstrate, answer questions and offer their professional advice.

The show will also include free guided tours of the NSBRC’s educational zones, featuring a life-size ‘Renovation House’ and its ‘New Build Journey’ helping people to visualise these products as part of their finished project.

Harvey Fremlin, managing director of NSBRC, said: “We’d love to see people from Swindon and Wiltshire come along and discover how accessible it is to build your own home these days. We’re delighted to support the National Custom and Self Build Week by hosting our Spring Show and we will be encouraging visitors to sign up to their local ‘Right to Build register’ – a council maintained register of individuals and groups of individuals who want to build their own home.

“Whatever stage your project is in, there will be experts available to look at your ideas and offer feedback on where to start, the best building methods, trades and materials for the job.”

The National Self Build & Renovation Show is easy to get to with the NSBRC located on Junction 16 of the M4 and parking is FREE.

The Show runs from Friday 11 – 13  May with FREE advance tickets at: www.nsbrc.co.uk
