New year brings changes for Switch on to Swindon

By Nick Batten on 6 January, 2021

The Chairman of place marketing board Switch on to Swindon, Jenny Groves, has stepped down after over three years in the role.

Jenny became the first Chairman of Swindon Place Board, the private sector-led body that is driving the Switch On To Swindon campaign, in February 2017.

At the time she was director of Branch and Property Transformation at Nationwide. She has since established herself as a business consultant and executive coach.

The announcement of her resignation from the board was made on social media channels on Christmas Day. She said she was sad to be leaving the role but wanted to concentrate on her new business and volunteering.

Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership CEO Paddy Bradley will become the board’s new chairman.

Paddy said, “The focus in 2020 was Covid-19 business support.

Tech Swindon put our tech cluster on the map and we’re planning more. We want to show Swindon’s resilience in 2021.”

Launched in January 2017, Switch on to Swindon is a public/private partnership led by the business community, with the primary aim of promoting the town as a thriving community in which to live, work and invest.

More than 850 ambassadors from the business community have pledged to ‘talk up’ Swindon.
