Members of the public recently turned out to see a trio of celebrities open a new ‘superstore’ run by the disability charity Sense.
Celebrity stylist, Rachel Gold, joined Arsenal legend and TV presenter, Paul Merson, and British Ski jumping champion, Eddie the Eagle in Swindon on Friday 10th March to open the new charity shop at Barnfield Road Retail Park.
The flagship store, which will sell a wide range of high-quality clothes, furniture, books and media, is also being billed as a ‘donation station’, with its staff able to receive all types of donated stock, including large furniture. Income from the store will fund the work of Sense, a national charity that supports people with complex disabilities and their families.
Paul said, “It’s great to be in Swindon to support this fantastic charity.
“The store’s really impressive, selling all sorts – and you can donate your old, unwanted household items here too. Plus all the proceeds go towards helping disabled people and their families.”
Eddie said, “Sense is a brilliant charity – supporting people living with complex disabilities to lead more active and independent lives.
“It’s a pleasure to be here for the opening of the store, which will help Sense support more people who need it.”
After the official ribbon cutting, Rachel Gold hosted an exclusive event, providing style demonstrations on members of the public, showing how to look your best on a budget.
She commented, “The work that Sense do makes a huge difference to people’s lives, providing vital support to disabled people and families across the country.
“I’m thrilled to be involved with this magnificent charity event and be here for the opening of the new store, meeting customers and giving some fabulous top tips and celebrity styling ideas.”
Richard Kramer, Sense Chief Executive, added, “To have Rachel, Paul and Eddie all present for the opening has made the occasion feel even more special.
“We’re grateful for their support, and, of course, to everyone in the community who came out to welcome us.”
The Sense charity superstore is located at Unit 2, Barnfield Road Retail Park, Great Western Way, Swindon.
Standard opening hours are Monday – Saturday from 9am – 6pm and 10am – 4pm on Sunday. Anybody wishing to donate to the store, but is unable to visit, should contact firstname.lastname@example.org to receive support from the team.
