Justin Tomlinson, Minster for Disabled People and MP for North Swindon, has issued an invitation to businesses to attend a Disability Confident event in October.
“I wanted to take this opportunity to invite you, and representatives from your organisation, to my Disability Confident event on Friday 23 October at STEAM.
As Minister for Disabled People and the local MP for North Swindon, my aim is to bring together all of the major employers across Swindon as well as local SMEs, for a chance to network and learn more about the Disability Confident campaign.
As a former business owner myself I know only too well the challenge of recruiting the very best staff. I want to share with you the help that is available, both from government and work programme providers, when it comes to employing a person with a disability; an experience that can be of great value to your business. 238,000 people with disabilities found work in the last 12 months. A fantastic step towards our commitment to halve the disability employment gap.
The event is on from 10am to 1pm and people are invited to drop in at any point during that window. There are no formal presentations, this is very much an informal event with various displays that will hope to inspire you and your business. Tea/coffee and cake will be served throughout.”
The Disability Confident campaign is about Government working with employers to remove the barriers, increase understanding and ensure that Disabled people have the opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations.
Please confirm your attendance by emailing Katie at the minister’s office – firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 01793 533393.
