Meet The Most Inspiring Wiltshire Companies – It’s Official!

Wiltshire businesses have made the grade in the latest report by the London Stock Exchange on the ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain.’

Published annually, the report looks at the fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) nationwide and looks at those which are outperforming their industry peers and showing consistent growth.

Of the South West companies listed, nine are from Wiltshire, seven of those from Swindon:

One of the those listed is Outsource UK, an independent recruitment company based in Firefly Avenue, Swindon and supplying skilled staff to the technology and engineering sectors. It was founded in 1991 and employs 80 people across five offices.

Chief executive officer Nick Dettmar said:“This is the second time we have made this prestigious list and it really is a great achievement for us.  I would like to thank all of our colleagues, customers and candidates who have helped us maintain consistent growth throughout our 27 years of trading. As our industry changes, we will continue to innovate and look for ways to take care of our customers’ challenges.”

Another company is The Image Factory, based in Bumpers Farm Industrial Estate in Chippenham. The team create engaging and innovative displays including 2D and 3D product displays, window graphics and product packaging. John Leutton is the sales and operations director.

John said: “We are delighted to be included in the London Stock Exchange Group Report on the Top 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain. It is good to know our long-term investment in both technology and training at our factory in Chippenham has enabled us to gain recognition in this prestigious report.

“Further investment in our Creative Design Studio in Bristol, where we design point-of-sale communications has enabled Image Factory Group to offer concept design to our clients as well as industry leading print production, finishing, assembly and distribution.We look forward to continued growth in 2019.”

The report (which can be downloaded as a pdf) examines the opportunities and challenges facing SMEs and looks for sectors and trends that will shape the future of the UK economy.

Some key findings are:

*Last year the UK had a record number of start-ups.

*Average annual revenue growth for the South West was 62 per cent – nationwide the average growth is 71 per cent.

*The creative industries drive exports worth more than £21bn a year.

*The food and drink sector is the biggest manufacturing sector in the UK with an annual turnover of £97bn.

*The UK technology sector attracts more investment into the sector than any other European country.
