The Carto Group is a full-service 3D Geospatial technology company building intelligent applications for a range of built environment sectors worldwide.

Based in Swindon and with clients across the globe, The Carto Group creates excellent solutions using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) which result in better and more effective built environments that work for everyone who uses them. The company’s CEO, Tim Hughes is a Business Ambassador for Swindon and was featured in Switch On To Swindon (SOTS) in September 2017 and more recently a promotional video from the SOTS team.

Tim started Carto Consult in 2014 when he was working for a global Civil Engineering firm as a GIS professional in the UK and across the Middle East, seeing a clear opportunity to create a differentiated data-led 3D GIS organisation, with a clear customer-partner focus.

The Carto Group visits every customer partner and really gets to understand how it can solve their challenges and problems in an efficient way using the world’s best technology and location data. In 2017, the decision was made to rebrand Carto Consult as The Carto Group to better represent the range of services the company is now offering and to allow the incubation of innovative product and service ideas within the group.

The Carto Group is proud to be based in and an employer in Swindon and to work with local organisations and international companies with a local presence alike, with an increasing UK-wide and global reach. Recently shortlisting by High Speed 2 Limited in their “hackathon” event, with partners DAQRI International and selection as technical data partner of choice for a substantial Kuwaitismart cities venture give the company confidence that it has a bright future. The Carto Group looks forward to continuing to innovate for the world, from the heart of Swindon.

“I am personally very proud that we are shortlisted for a Techies award; proud as a local business owner for the recognition of the hard work and dedication my team have put in to achieve our vision that geospatial data can efficiently and reliably solve many of the local area’s challenges in terms of land, property development and maintaining public assets.” Tim Hughes, CEO, The Carto Group
