Meet Jamie Martin – Founder of a new Wiltshire start-up

By Nick Batten on 26 September, 2019

The Business Exchange recently attended a YESwindon event, a new local networking group aimed at 18-35-year-olds, where we met a variety of young professionals. One of those young professionals was Jamie Martin, the Managing Director and Founder of Correct Careers Coaching – a sales training and employment solutions firm which launched in July.

We caught up with Jamie to find out more about his business and his thoughts on YESwindon…

Are you originally from Swindon?

Yes, I was born in Swindon and really enjoy being involved within the local community. I recently participated in the New Swindon Half Marathon to raise money for charity.

What did you do before Correct Careers Coaching?
I previously worked in recruitment for six years and prior to that I completed a psychology degree at university.

What inspired you to set up your own company?
After working in the recruitment industry, I wanted to create a company that could provide full employment solutions to businesses for employee retention and development.

What qualifications have you been training for?

I completed a degree in psychology and a postgraduate certificate with merit in Business Psychology. Additionally, I have a Career / Life Coaching Diploma and have completed over 20 training and coaching courses.

How are you finding the start-up journey so far?

It’s been challenging but exciting. In setting up your own business, you need to do a variety of tasks and make numerous important decisions for establishing and promoting the business.

What companies do you have an ambition to work with?
I enjoy working with local companies – but I also have an ambition to provide employment solutions and modern sales training to corporate companies.

How can you help businesses, their employees and business owners?

Correct Careers Coaching helps businesses and their employees by improving employee retention. Personalised sales training and coaching programmes are produced to improve performance and develop capabilities.

What makes your offering unique?

Our offering is unique because we develop personalised employment solution programmes and sales training for different business and employee requirements.

Who would you like to connect with?

We’re looking to connect with Business Owners, Directors, HR Personnel and L&D teams. We also want to build a strong referral network with the business community.

What do you like doing outside of work?

I enjoy running, cycling, sightseeing and socialising. As well as this – I like reading and writing novels!

What do you think of YESwindon?

I think it’s a really inspiring networking group that brings together local and like-minded entrepreneurs to motivate and support one another with their business ventures.
