Mayor of Swindon officially opens the town’s first face-to-face Business Buzz

Business leaders across Swindon and Wiltshire recently joined the Mayor of Swindon for a celebration of business resilience at the official opening of Swindon Buzz – a monthly, non-membership networking event.

After launching with a virtual café online in March 2021 during lockdown, Swindon Buzz quickly gained momentum, becoming one of Swindon’s most active networking events.

During the pandemic, social interaction on a business level had never been more important. Networking groups, like Business Buzz, gave business communities across the world the UK the opportunity to stay connected and support one another.

As Swindon Buzz approached its first birthday, the group brought its networkers (Buzz’ers) together in the ‘real world’ for the very first time. Swindon’s Mayor, Councillor Gary Perkins, officially opened the Swindon Buzz at its new home – DoubleTree by Hilton on Great Western Way – on Thursday, 17th February.

He said, “I’m pleased to be in support of Business Buzz in Swindon. A networking event for small businesses to collaborate with one another has the potential to encourage new business opportunities within the community.”

As an informal networking group, the emphasis is on making meaningful connections with like-minded people, not selling, making it a thoroughly enjoyable way to support your business. There are no membership fees or subscriptions – everybody is welcome, and tickets to each event cost just £6.

Rachel Weaven, HR consultant for face2faceHR and Host of Swindon Buzz, said, “I can’t tell you how excited I was to finally meet some of our regular Buzz’ers in person for the first time! I am so proud of the supportive community we have built online during the pandemic, but now it’s full steam ahead to make our face-to-face networking events the best in Swindon!

“As the event took place during Valentine’s Day week, there were also some fun surprises – we always encourage business owners to ‘share the love’ within our community!”

Following the launch, Swindon Buzz will now meet at the DoubleTree by Hilton on the third Thursday of every month between 10 am and 12 noon. Swindon Buzz is supported locally by easyStorage Thames Valley – a collect store and return solution, Morris Owen chartered accountants and Supportwise IT Services
