Wiltshire residents are invited to a gin tasting event at The Pear Tree Hotel in Purton.

The event, which costs £25 per person, is being hosted by the Young family who have been running the hotel for almost 30 years. Wine and spirit expert Jill Frost, a member of the Easy Wine Club, will be leading the tasting and will be guest speaker on Friday October 16.

Alix  Young, hotel manager, said: “We hope this event will be of interest to people across Wiltshire. Gin is becoming increasingly popular and this is an opportunity to try six different varieties in a lovely setting. The event begins about 6.30pm with Jill’s presentation half an hour later.”

The Pear Tree at Purton is one of the county’s most respected family run hotels. It opened in 1987 and is now managed by the second generation of the Young family – Alix Young and her husband Tim. This year, the hotel won the Cesar Award for Country Hotel of the Year by the Good Hotel Guide.

Places are limited for the event which starts at 6.30pm so must be booked in advance on 01793 772100 or by emailing
