It’s the seventh and final day of our Love Local Old Town, Swindon, campaign sponsored by The National Self Build & Renovation Centre (NSBRC) and today we’re putting the spotlight on Rays Ice Cream.
Based on Devizes Road, Rays Ice Cream is a family favourite, serving up home made ice cream, sorbet, frozen yoghurt, Belgian waffles and other sweet treats.
The business was set up by Hadi Brooks in 2011 and sells ice cream both as a retailer (out of the Old Town shop) and as a wholesaler.
The top five best-selling flavours at Rays Ice Cream in Old Town are vanilla, chocolate, raspberry ripple, mint choc and salted caramel and there’s even a vegan ice cream available.
Hadi said, “The quality of our product comes from great ingredients including local whole milk and double cream with no cheap fillers. Many ice creams contain no milk or cream at all.
“We make our ice cream in smaller batches and it’s churned slowly for a short amount of time – so it’s not full of air. You can tell when you taste it, it’s called ‘mouthfeel’ in the industry. Our products are denser, more luxurious and a lot more filling.”
During lockdown Rays Ice Cream introduced a Swindon home delivery service which has proved successful. The website details the postcodes the team deliver to and you can buy online.
Hadi and the team are pleased that Rays Ice Cream shop is now open for business again with social distancing measures in place. You can visit daily from 12pm-6pm Monday-Sunday.
