Lockton raise thousands for GOSH at charity auction

Last Thursday 7 May, the South West office of Lockton Insurance LLP organised a charity event to boost funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

The event held at Plead the 5th Bar & Restaurant on Park Row, Bristol played host to a number of local businesses that came to network and support both Lockton and the charity with over 70 people in attendance.

Each year, Lockton nominates a partner charity and every office across the UK works hard to fundraise and support the organisation. This year GOSH was the chosen charity and over the past year the company has raised over £90,000 towards a £100,000 target.

The charity auction raised over £2,500 with lot donations from many local firms. Auction items included a signed Gloucestershire cricket bat and shirt donated by Gloucestershire County Cricket, a pleasure flight for two people, donated by Cotswold Airport, a Red Letter Day from Excalibur Communications and two tickets to the Warwickshire Cup Final from Cirencester Polo Club.

Chris Lennon, head of the Lockton Bristol office said: “This was a fantastic event and an opportunity for us as a business to thank our staff, clients, partners and prospective clients for their support whilst raising money for a tremendous charity.  I was overwhelmed by the attendance, generosity of the donors and the people who bid on auction lots and the team at Plead the 5th who kindly donated the catering and venue for the charity.  A magnificent night was had by all.”

Louise Lackie, the deputy unit manager for Lockton organised the night alongside colleague Laetitia Nimmo. Louise commented: “All at Lockton have worked hard over the past 12 months to raise £100,000 to pay for a new suite in the Cystic Fibrosis ward at Great Ormond Street hospital.  We are thrilled with the money raised from the auction evening. GOSH is a wonderful charity which most people can identify with in one way or another and it is humbling to see the generosity of everyone who attended.”
