The Swindon Chamber of Commerce, which is part of the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Group, will be joined by New College Swindon and Swindon and Wiltshire Institute of Technology at the inaugural TechSwindon Summit 2020. Together they will set the stage on how training at the newly merged College will support the thriving business community over the coming years.
The session will be facilitated by the Chamber’s Account Manager for the region, Tim Major. Tim, said, “Swindon has become an increasingly important hub for tech companies over the last few years as more entrepreneurs, start-ups and established companies look to set up.
“Moving forward, we need to continue identifying key technical and digital skills that will support the region’s employers, which will allow them access to the right skills and funding quickly.
“Developing a pipeline for tech talent, whilst increasing higher level technical skills is part of a broader strategy that includes significant Government funding to support the initiative and bring much needed digital, creative media, engineering and lab science skills to the area.”
The webinar will give an overview of the current tech talent in the area, as well as hosting a Q&A session on what more can be done to attract businesses to the region.
Carole Kitching, Principal and CEO, Institute of Technology, New College Swindon, added, “We are delighted to be participating in the Tech Swindon Summit this year and to be part of a showcase which demonstrates some of the initiatives that are driving developments in technology in the region and the opportunities that this brings to future proof the local economy.
“With the Swindon and Wiltshire Institute of Technology development at North Star campus having been given the green light, we look forward to supporting local business with the technical skills and talent which are needed to shape the work force of the future.”
