High demand on Swindon’s Westmead industrial estate

A prominent unit on the Westmead industrial estate in Swindon has been let by commercial property specialist Colliers International.

UK Storage Limited has signed up for a 25 year lease on Unit 22/23, a 24,243 sq ft detached industrial/warehouse with internal office accommodation, and up to 70 parking spaces.

Tom Watkins, from the Colliers International industrial team for the south west, said the long lease, which includes breaks, was indicative of the shortage of suitable premises.

“The 25-year lease secures the property for as long as possible for the new tenant at a time when there is a real shortage of stock in the Swindon area,” he said.

“Demand is particularly high for units on Westmead, which is ideally located on the road from Junction 16 of the M4 into the centre of the town.”

He added that Colliers International, which has previously let other units on the sought-after estate on Swindon’s western outskirts, was expecting considerable interest when it brings to the market Unit 25 at Westmead Industrial Estate, which has recently become available. The property – which extends to some 7,503 sq ft – was previously occupied by UniParts.
