Wiltshire based law firm Goughs Solicitors recently held its 5th annual Charity golf day at Cumberwell Park Golf Club, Bradford on Avon in support of Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
The day was attended by over 100 guests from the Wiltshire business community and raised in excess of £6,500 for the charity, which is based in Calne.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance provides a vital helicopter emergency medical service throughout the county, saving the lives of people living, working and travelling in Wiltshire. From January next year, it will cost £2.5m a year to keep the air ambulance operational.
As well as attracting a number of Wiltshire’s movers and shakers, the event was also attended by celebrity guests, Lee Probert (Premier League referee) and Wolverhampton Wanderers football legend Kenny Hibbitt.
After 18 holes of golf the day concluded with a celebration dinner, presentation of prizes and the eagerly anticipated Charity Auction. The auction went with a swing thanks to the generosity of many local businesses and Lee Probert who donated the tracksuit top he wore for his presentation to Prince William and the other dignitaries before last season’s FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Hull City.
Martin Lang, Senior Partner at Goughs Solicitors commented “The whole day was a fantastic success and we have been overwhelmed by the generosity shown by everyone involved. The money raised will help to ensure that an extremely worthwhile charity can continue its essential lifesaving work for the benefit of all of us here in Wiltshire”.
Cheryl Johnson, Head of Fundraising & Communications for the charity said “We can’t thank Goughs enough for organising this fantastic event, not to mention the many businesses and individuals who supported the golf day through their participation, donations and sponsorship.
This is a great example of how businesses and Wiltshire Air Ambulance can work together to help raise vital funds to keep our lifesaving service in the skies and ensure that the air ambulance is there for everyone who needs it”.
