German steel magnate scraps career in metal to launch Swindon plumbing franchise

With over two decades of experience in the steel and logistics industry, German born and bred Sascha Hunsinger has given up his life of metal to launch a new Swindon-based franchise of the drainage and plumbing business, Drain Doctor.

Based near Swindon, Sascha Hunsinger will be joined by his team of two qualified technicians, who have over 35 years of experience in drainage, and Drain Doctor branded vans fully equipped with high-pressure water jetting units and CCTV drain survey equipment.

Prior to becoming a new franchise owner, Sascha spent 25 years working in logistics for a global transport and logistics company in Germany and then moved to Belgium as commercial plant manager and head of strategy for a large steel plant. With a vision to the first choice for all commercial and domestic customers in his local area, Sascha brings transferrable management skills to his new franchise, from business planning and strategy to sales, leadership and customer engagement.

Eager to leave his corporate life behind and embark on a new business venture, Sascha chose to relocate to the UK and go down the franchising route by making an investment in a brand which was established, growing fast and recession proof. Drain Doctor was the perfect fit, particularly as it was part of a wider network of 57 nationwide franchise locations and the largest franchisor of home service brands worldwide, Neighborly, which he could tap into for advice, guidance and support.

Sascha said, “Life is all about opportunities and when I found out that the Drain Doctor franchise was available, I knew I couldn’t turn it down. I was looking for a fresh challenge, and when my great university friend, Adrian Sargent of Countrywide Grounds Maintenance, asked me to join him here in the UK to work in the same franchise family, I seized the opportunity to dive into a new culture and turn our dream of running our own venture into a tangible plan.

“Another key motive for moving into the drainage and plumbing sector was to find a business that was in constant demand and would allow me to deliver an exceptional customer service. Franchising offers many benefits from following a proven system and access to trusted people, but what ultimately drove me to the Drain Doctor franchise was the professionalism, strong code of values and passion for providing quality and high standard solutions for customers. I am really looking forward to getting stuck in and being a key player in Swindon.”
