Wiltshire-based Forrester Sylvester Mackett Solicitors have presented Dorothy House Hospice Care with a cheque for £2,355.50 which they raised through various fundraising activities and events during 2016.

Members of staff at the firm were busy raising money throughout the year, with a dress down day on the last Friday of every month. They baked and sold cakes for Dotty day, held a charity quiz night, a Christmas raffle and sold branded umbrellas to raise the funds.

Alisha Stephens, Paralegal in the Wills Trusts and Probate department in Trowbridge  also took part in the Dorothy House bubble rush 5k run and raised £345 and Nick Guinness and Jeff Williams, who are both partners at the firm, took part in the Bath Men’s walk which raised over £300.

2016 was Dorothy House’s 40th anniversary year and Forrester Sylvester Mackett chose them as their charity of the year through a firm wide poll. Nick Guinness, Managing Partner of the firm, said: ‘’Dorothy House is a fantastic charity, the services they offer to patients and their families is invaluable and we are very lucky to have them here in Wiltshire.’’

Henrietta Beard, Corporate and Major Donor Fundraiser at Dorothy House Hospice Care added: ‘’We are very grateful for all the support we have received from Forrester Sylvester Mackett. As an independent charity we rely on the support of fundraising as for every £1 we receive from the NHS, we need to raise another £4 to continue providing services free of charge to support people with life limiting illnesses, their families and carers.’’
