TIPS, TOOLS AND TAKEAWAYS TO HELP SUSTAIN, MAINTAIN AND GROW YOUR BUSINESS
The Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership (SWLEP) is excited to share the details of its annual conference and expo which is set to take place on Thursday 6th October. SWLEP will be delivering another packed agenda to help sustain, maintain and grow your business with a theme of ‘Doing Business Brilliantly’.
Understanding the needs of businesses and delivering meaningful and impactful support is one of the key objectives for the SWLEP, its Growth Hub and Business Cyber Centre.
Building on the success of last year’s digital conference entitled ‘Engage, Evolve, Grow’, this year’s event will again offer stimulating keynote sessions and a greater number of workshops covering all angles of how to do business brilliantly, both now and into the future. Workshops will be delivered by local experts and will include topics such as digital transformation, sustainability, customer service, financing, change management and branding. Doing business brilliantly involves continually learning and these workshops will provide tips and tools to assist you run a thriving business.
The keynote sessions will be both informative, lively and entertaining and there will also be plenty of opportunity to spend time at the expo which will showcase many of the fantastic organisations in and around our region.
Alison North is director of her own small business and is SME Representative and Co-Deputy Chair on the SWLEP Board. Alison, said, “Many of us in the small business world are finding today’s changeable and volatile economy a real challenge and maybe one that we haven’t experienced before. It can make us feel like headless chickens as we rush to keep up with changes in rules and regulations; budget and re-budget as all prices rise, and generally just find things hard. How on earth to we ‘do business brilliantly’ in the current situation? This conference will assist with helping SMEs find successful ways to navigate these paths.”
The free to attend digital conference is aimed at helping all businesses and organisations striving to find out how to do business brilliantly or continue down the brilliance route. Whether brilliant to you is increasing your cyber resilience; making progress towards sustainability or simply increasing your sales and ongoing success, there will be opportunities to attend unmissable workshop sessions which will be packed with tools and takeaways to make a positive difference to your organisation.
WHY A DIGITAL CONFERENCE AND EXPO?
The Swindon and Wiltshire area covers 3,485 km2 and therefore any travel across the region not only takes time but it also contributes significantly to carbon outputs. The SWLEP team calculated that by holding the event online last year, they saved carbon emissions equivalent to boiling a kettle for 140,000 cups of tea, and that calculation didn’t take into account the travelling of the international visitors from Africa, Europe and the United States who attended the conference.
Paddy Bradley, CEO of the SWLEP, said, “By hosting the event digitally, we prevent unnecessary travel, saving time and carbon emissions. We estimated a saving of circa 2.1 tonnes of CO2e by holding the 2021 Conference online. Hopefully an example of the SWLEP striving to do business brilliantly.”
WHAT ABOUT NETWORKING?
As some are considering venturing out into the ‘real world’ again for networking opportunities, these are still limited to the people from that locality. Using the HopIn digital platform, it will enable visitors from across the UK and the globe to join the event, giving attendees the opportunity to mingle with a much greater mix of people.
There will be the opportunity to reach out to the list of attendees to have conversations; engage in ‘random’ networking in a similar way to bumping into someone at a real live event. These networking opportunities can be either via message or a video call. You can also retain digital business cards.
In addition, there will be organisations and SMEs exhibiting within the expo area where you can again request a video call with the exhibitor or contact after the event.
