Foundry – A new initiative to grow small businesses in Swindon

By Anita Jaynes on 6 June, 2022

Business start-up expert Outset has launched a new offering to help small and micro-businesses in Swindon grow.

Working alongside partners The Workshed, Swindon Borough Council, Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership, SETSquared and Metro Bank, Outset have created Foundry, a platform designed to accelerate the growth of small businesses, reaffirming Swindon as the natural destination for high growth businesses.

The FREE programme is designed to support ambitious entrepreneurs from all walks of life, ages and backgrounds, with the vision to grow their small business.

Foundry is set to operate on a cyclical basis, allowing an influx of fresh talent the chance to benefit from the programme. Within the time spent in the Foundry each successful applicant will receive:

  • 10 weeks free desk space Tuesday – Thursday at the Workshed, Swindon starting from 13th June
  • Structured business support focussed on the needs of ambitious small businesses, including growth strategies, financial planning and marketing for growth.
  • Three evening networking events, held at Workshed and hosted by partner organisations.
  • Outset business advisor to be regularly present in the Workshed to provide drop-in support and guidance.

The programme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Outset was established by the YTKO Group in 2009 to help stimulate economic development and help people ‘give themselves a job’ by equipping people with the essential skills, knowledge and confidence to start their own business. Since then Outset has supported the creation of over 6,000 new businesses and over 4,000 new jobs as well as engaging with nearly 30,000 individuals thanks to services operating across the country.
