Chris Timms, an engineer with over 40 years’ experience, has joined the team at Wiltshire’s John Williams Heating Services.

Chris, who’s 63, has worked in engineering since leaving school at the age of 15. He became an apprentice and started his career in Oxford. He then moved to Wiltshire and spent many years working for a small company in Royal Wootton Bassett.

He was made redundant a few months ago when his former employer retired and the business was closed down. Chris had heard of John Williams Heating Services, based in Chippenham, and handed in his CV in person.

“The company has such a good reputation, and it’s family run which is what I am used to and I enjoy this kind of environment. I was thrilled to be interviewed and then offered a job,” Chris said.

Chris will join a team of 13 engineers which includes three apprentices. He lives in Chippenham with Linda, his wife of 43 years and they have a daughter Jane and three grandchildren. In his spare time, Chris enjoys fishing and participates in competitive matches at Ivy House Lakes, Grittenham.

John Williams Heating Services is based on the Bumpers Farm Industrial Estate in Chippenham and is now in its 11th year of business. This year, it was named Apprentice Employer of the Year in the Wiltshire Business Awards. It’s also a Which? Trusted Trader and is registered with CheckATrade.com.
