Excalibur warn of increase in spam/spoof emails

TBE technology experts Excalibur IT and Communications for business urge Wiltshire firms to ensure their business is protected from the latest bout of spam and spoof emails being circulated.

Are you protected?

You may have noticed that your business is getting a steady rise in the influx of CryptoWall emails that contain viruses. These can come in the form of fake PDF/Word/Excel invoice attachments, purchase orders or any other business communications via email.

What is CryptoWall?

CryptoWall is a file-encrypting ransomware program that targets all versions of Windows. It scans your computer, encrypts all of its data then pops up a notepad window demanding a ransom of several hundred dollars to purchase a decryption program.

Take a look at Excalibur’s information pages here for more details and advice. Excalibur would also recommend that you forward this information to everyone in your company to raise awareness.

What can you do?

CryptoPrevent configurations can be installed on your network which will ensure that anything individual users try to run that is not recognised by your system parameters will be prevented from doing so. This means any attempt to open an infected file will be blocked automatically.
