Excalibur Communications, the Swindon-based telecoms and IT solutions service provider, has acquired Techs4Education in a strategic move aimed at “consolidating and expanding” its specialist IT for education practice.

Established in 2010, Techs4Education is a provider of IT support services and technology solutions to schools in the South of England.

Excalibur is set to grow its presence in the education sector and believes the acquisition brings “scale, experience and expertise” to its existing education division, positioning it to meet the “unique and evolving” IT and communications requirements of schools into the future.

The firm will maintain the Techs4Education name and re-brand its existing education practice under this title as part of the integration process. Excalibur has worked in the education market for over ten years and “further strengthened” its proposition for schools with the purchase of the Support Services division of Ntegra in April 2017. The enlarged Techs4Education division will now serve over 30 schools in the South and South West UK.

Speaking about the deal, Peter Boucher, chief executive officer of Excalibur, said: “The addition of Techs4Education complements our existing education practice and grows our presence in a sector which is important to the business. Techs4Education has a strong reputation for making sure its schools have reliable and effective IT solutions and, like Excalibur, believes in delivering only the highest levels of service.

“By joining forces with Techs4Education we can reach more schools and support them in harnessing the latest technology for effective classroom learning.”

Steve Worthington, chief executive officer of Techs4Education, added: “In Excalibur we have found a partner who shares our vision for technology in schools and can facilitate taking our offering to the next level. Our knowledge of the sector, combined with the depth of resources available from Excalibur will enable us to broaden the IT and Telecommunications solutions we provide to schools.”

The purchase of Techs4Education is Excalibur’s 5th IT acquisition in the past seven years.
