The team at Swindon estate and lettings agent Ashcox & Stone have raised more than £500 to help the town’s homeless.

The team, led by Fiona Cox and Lee Haynes, spent the day at the Old Town Christmas Lights Switch On event last Sunday November 27 offering refreshments and running a tombola to raise money for The Night Shelter.

The Night Shelter helps people who are homeless, vulnerable and struggling in the area. Volunteers run the shelter every Friday night from 9pm – 8am at St Mary’s church hall, Cheney Manor Rd. Guests are offered a hot meal, a shower, a listening ear and a bed in a friendly, dignified environment

Fiona Cox, sales and lettings manager of Ashcox & Stone, which is based at Market House, Marlborough Road, Old Town, said: “We were overwhelmed by the success of the event, the area was packed and we were so grateful for the support we received. Families were more than happy to donate cash to help those without a roof over their heads this Christmas.”

Joining them at the event was Becky Davison, co-founder of the Night Shelter, who said: “It was a real pleasure to spend an afternoon with the team at Ashcox & Stone. I was overwhelmed by the generosity and support of people for the homeless in Swindon. It was a great event and lots of fun.”
