As part of Bath Digital Festival 2018 (#BDF2018), Corsham Institute will be hosting two key events on Thursday 25 October at Hartham Park. In addition, there will also be an added “virtual reality bonus” and complimentary lunch for all attendees.
Corsham Institute is a Wiltshire-based educational charity supporting people to be “skilled and ready” for the digital world. Central to the Institute’s work is the identification of digital skills shortages across the UK workforce and working in partnership with communities, businesses and other organisations to develop programmes to close those gaps.
The first event, ‘Data, Ethics and Trust’ will take place from 11.00am – 12.30pm and is a roundtable session. Attendees will hear from the Corsham Institute which is supporting its local community with a ‘Your Data, Your Rights’ project, exploring people’s attitudes towards personal data and what knowledge and skills they need to make informed decisions about how their data is managed.
The second event, ‘The Future of Work and Digital Skills,’ takes place from 2.00pm to 4.00pm and deals with the challenge employers currently face in getting “access to talent” in the digital technology sector. Corsham Institute claims it has undertaken research in this area and is “committed to developing new ways to train people in partnership with employers.”
This interactive session will explore how closing the digital skills gap in Bath, Wiltshire and beyond can be achieved.
The session is also hoping to hear “directly from employers” on which occupations they are struggling to recruit to, what skills underpin those jobs and what jobs they will need to plan for in the future.
As an “added bonus” for attendees at either event, Corsham Institute is offering a complimentary networking lunch at Hartham Park and an opportunity to try out its ‘Virtual Reality CAVE.’ Networking and drinks will follow.
