The Corsham Business Show – which takes place on 21 March – has announced that its chosen charity for the event will be Dorothy House Hospice.
Dorothy House provides “compassionate care and support” for people in the community with a life-limiting illness. It focuses on quality of life, so patients can “live well and die well.”
The hospice gives care and support to patients and their families in Bath and North East Somerset and parts of Wiltshire, whenever they need it; at home, in the hospice, or at one of its outreach centres.
Stuart Pearce, president of Corsham’s Chamber of Commerce, said: “Throughout the planning process for the Corsham Business Show we wanted to find a local charity that we could help raise awareness of, along with supporting their fundraising needs. We were delighted when Dorothy House Hospice accepted our invitation to join us on the big day. They are a wonderful charity, seamlessly integrated into the local community and tirelessly supporting families in need day in and day out.”
He added: “Our business show has always been a not for profit event and therefore we are able to ensure a percentage of the money generated through the sale of exhibition spaces will be going straight to the charity. The Dorothy House team will be in attendance at the show helping to facilitate key activities and running some fundraising activities. It will be great to see local businesses supporting a local charity.”
Simon Parrett of Dorothy House said: “As a hospice, we have something to say about what bereavement is like for people within a setting like the workplace. Our interest is in opening up a conversation with employers and demonstrating how we can add value to their businesses by making the work environment a place where they aren’t scared to have difficult conversations with their staff.”
