Schools, businesses and individuals across Wiltshire are gearing up for some silver themed fundraising in support of Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

National Air Ambulance Week takes place from September 21-27, and as Wiltshire Air Ambulance (WAA) is celebrating its silver jubilee the charity had adopted a Show Us Your Silver theme for the week.

Children from schools all over Wiltshire will be dressing in silver and raising money for WAA. Crew and staff from WAA will also be visiting participating schools to cheer the children on and talk about their life-saving work.

Supermarket collections will be taking place at Morrison’s, Warminster, on Monday September 21 ; Marks and Spencer, Devizes, on Tuesday September 22; The Brunel Shopping Centre, Swindon, on Wednesday September 23; Old George Mall, Salisbury, on Friday September 25; The Shires Shopping Centre, Trowbridge, on Saturday September 26; Sainsbury’s, Melksham, on Sunday September 27 and Asda, Melksham, on Sunday September 27.

Several businesses across the county are also showing their support with a number of events, including a coffee morning at The Coventry Building Society in Trowbridge and a whole week of silver-themed events for all ages at Coral Cove soft play centre in Devizes. The Consortium in Trowbridge are holding various events throughout the week, including putting their execs in stocks and throwing sponges at them.

Joanne Kent, HR Manager at the Consortium said: “Wiltshire Air Ambulance, as one of our two chosen charities, is really important to The Consortium and to mark Air Ambulance week we’ve got two great fundraisers lined up. All week we’ll be encouraging the book lovers among us to bring their old, pre-loved books to work for our charity book sale; and on Wednesday we’re putting our executive team in the Stocks. For just a £1 staff will be invited to soak their ‘favourite’ director!

All money raised will be shared between Wiltshire Air Ambulance and our other charity partner, Hope House Hospice, in Shropshire.”
