Chipside follows Techie success with global award

Chipside, the Brinkworth-based software development company that provides products and services to local and regional government traffic authorities, has won the ‘Public and Private Award’ category at the 2020 WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards.

WITSA is the leading recognised voice of the global information and communications technology (ICT) industry, whose members from over 80 countries and economies represent more than 90% of the world’s ICT market. The WITSA Awards recognised the businesses that made the most significant contributions to mankind in 2020.

What makes the Global ICT Excellence Awards unique is that nominations are made by experts that know the industry best; the national and regional WITSA ICT industry associations. With unparalleled insight, the most innovative solutions were brought before an independent panel of judges, consisting of select industry leaders and luminaries from key international organisations, corporations and government entities, who had to spend countless hours reviewing nearly 130 submissions.

Chipside – which was up against eleven other nominees in its category – received the award at a virtual ceremony on 19th November.

The nominations submitted to this year’s awards program spanned WITSA’s entire global membership.

Started 20 years ago, at the 2000 World Congress on IT in Taipei, WITSA has utilised its unprecedented reach into the ICT industry in over 80 countries.

Dr. Jim Poisant, Secretary General of WITSA said, “This year’s awards are happening at a very unique time in history. In spite of going through a global pandemic we are delighted that we will be able to recognise some of the very best ICT solutions from governments, institutions, individuals and industry.”

Paul Moorby OBE, CEO of Chipside, added, “We are delighted to win an award that reflects the efforts of so many people during these difficult times across the world. It is a true partnership of our staff, our town and city managers, and our nearly four million public users of our smart city app.”

The news follows Chipside’s recent success at The Techies 2020 where it picked up a win in the ‘Flying the Flag for Swindon & Wiltshire Tech’ category.
