As the 2019 Chippenham BID Business Awards approach, we caught up with some of 2018’s winners to find out more and see if they have any advice for this year’s entrants. First up is…
City Dressing – Creative or Technology Business of the Year 2018
Founded in 2011, Chippenham-based City Dressing promotes and animates places with temporary transformations, offering a range of different services including, augmented reality, event promotion, pop up parks, street dressing and virtual windows.
Jeremy Rucker, the firm’s director, told the Business Exchange: “Successful places are spaces people to want to be in. Our aim is to make all places great by making sure people engage, dwell, socialise, spend and enjoy their town and city centres.
“City Dressing is an experiential company and we transform places with our unique graphics, lights and sounds – covering empty spaces and animating spare places. We also supply media to brand places, promote events and raise revenue. From lamp column banners and shop graphics to large pop-up parks and super size Christmas sculptures we are spreading joy in over 50 cities UK wide.”
How did it feel to win on the night?
To win in Chippenham was very special as there is no better recognition of your progress as a company than from your local clients.
Did you receive any publicity for taking part?
We received publicity in local media but also used the award to maximum effect in all our communications. Being branded a creative company is vital for our brand position.
What tips would you give anyone entering for the first time this year?
Imagine you are a judge and try being original in your response to better promote your company. Concentrate only on what would impress a judge. Only enter the sections you want to win, not those you think you might have a chance in. Keep it relevant!
