Chippenham Business Improvement District (BID) has announced the appointment of Simon Philpott as BID Manager from February 2017.

Simon has been a Chippenham resident for over 10 years and has lived in the area for nearly 20 years. After a successful sales and marketing career in information technology, he took time out to pursue becoming an ordained minister. After a number of years leading Station Hill Baptist Church in Chippenham, Simon has decided to fill this dynamic position that will utilise his extensive experience and interpersonal abilities. His varied skill set, genuine passion for the town in which he lives and a significant relationship with the community means the role is ideally suited to Simon on many levels.

Working closely with the rest of the BID team and reporting to the Chippenham BID board of directors comprised of BID levy-paying local business owners and public sector workers, Simon will be leading on the development of many anticipated projects for the town in line with the Chippenham BID Business Plan; inclusive of new car parking initiatives, improved signage, business support, heightened cleanliness for the town and more exciting events.

On the announcement of his appointment, Simon said:“I am passionate about our town and what it has to offer and I am excited that I have the opportunity to focus that passion to deliver benefit to both the business community and the public. Chippenham is already beginning to realise the fantastic potential that it has through the work of Chippenham BID and my goal is to ensure that we will fully capitalise on that potential whilst benefiting everyone associated with the town.”

Chippenham BID Chair Ben Gregory added: “We are delighted to welcome Simon to our team here in Chippenham. We are all extremely passionate about Chippenham and feel Simon can bring the business plan further into fruition working with the Board and businesses within the Business Improvement District (BID) area – especially with such great local and community knowledge upon a great wealth of experience.”

Simon will be spending his first few weeks meeting as many levy paying businesses in Chippenham as possible, in the meantime any enquiries can be sent to simon@chippenhambid.co.uk
