Celebrating Swindon and Wiltshire’s most inspiring women – 2023

By Nick Batten on 15 March, 2023

To mark International Women’s Day 2023, which this year took place on Wednesday 8th March, we’re celebrating some of Swindon and Wiltshire’s most inspiring women.

Through our social media channels, we asked our readers which women in our community inspire them and created a list of 20. The list is printed in our Feb/March magazine and from Wednesday 1st March, every weekday throughout the month we are profiling and championing each of these fantastic women online and via our social feeds.

Today we put the spotlight on Claire Brewerton…

Claire set up her business, The Virtual Business Centre, 24 years ago.

Based in Brinkworth, the company offers an hourly service for busy entrepreneurs who struggle to follow up on phone inquiries or on connections to set up meetings, appointments or quotations and therefore grow their business.

The Virtual Business Centre has won various awards including #SBS Small Business Sunday (the initiative run by ex-Dragons Den investor Theo Paphitis).

Claire said, “I feel humbled to be seen as one of Swindon and Wiltshire’s inspirational women in business. I love what I do and have done for more than 20 years. I know there are many women in our community who run micro and small businesses day in and day out, who contribute to our vibrant economy and yet who go largely unnoticed. Therefore, to be noticed and to be seen is a very wonderful thing. I salute any woman who is running any business which adds to the variety and diversity that we are lucky to have here in Wiltshire.”
