The organisation behind the Swindon Initiative and the Bath, Bristol and Gloucestershire Chambers of Commerce has been named as one of the UK’s best employers in the latest annual Sunday Times ‘100 Best Not for Profit Companies to Work For’ list.
Business West, appears in the list for the first time, coming in at number 80 in the UK and in the top three in the South West.

Firms are judged on a number of criteria including employees’ views on the company’s leadership, their manager and team, their personal growth opportunities, giving back to society and the local community and pay and benefits, with an overall focus on those companies which invest in the well-being and motivation of their employees.
In its survey of Business West staff, The Sunday Times found that employees (179 in total) believe they can make a valuable contribution to the success of Business West, giving an 84% positive score for this statement. Staff agree that the company has a strong social conscience (78%) and are happy that managers talk openly and honestly with them (81%). Colleagues go out of their way to help one another (77%), are fun to work with (79%) and care for each other (81%).
Operating from offices in Bristol, Swindon, Midsomer Norton and Porton Down, Business West has a turnover of £20m. Profits are reinvested in the company to help it achieve its mission to make this region the best place to start up and grow a business.
