Business Show Swindon a Steaming Success

By Anita Jaynes on 26 May, 2015

Almost 800 business people visited the STEAM Museum on Thursday 23 April for Business West’s fifth annual Business Show Swindon.

The keynote speech from writer, explorer, television presenter and public speaker Monty Halls was a great success. With a reputation as one of the most entertaining and thought provoking speakers in the UK, Monty did not disappoint. As a former Royal Marines Officer, Monty led teams in some of the most demanding environments and drew on this experience to reveal how businesses and individuals perform under stress, how to adapt to rapidly changing environments, and how to maintain focus when all about you are losing theirs.

There were over 80 exhibitors from a wide range of sectors including; Bluefin Group, Little Miss Cake Maker, Open University and Pebley Beach, to name but a few.

Rachael Booth, Total Guide To Ltd, who exhibited at the show said: “We’ve done this show for the past four years. It’s a great way for us to meet local businesses that we work with and get new contacts. We thoroughly enjoy it. It’s just great to get so many local businesses all together in one place.”

The Business Show provided plenty of networking opportunities for local businesses with sell-out speed networking sessions and a Click and Connect Lounge, giving attendees the opportunity to meet with digital experts, sponsored by HSBC and Thrings. Other seminars included an insightful talk on how to apply research and psychology to website design from CX Partners’ Ben Simmonds and a 360 degree guide to attracting, recruiting and retaining happy, quality staff from employer branding expert Mark Bevans.

Ian Larrard, Director of Swindon and Wiltshire Initiative at, Business West said: “There’s nothing like meeting people face to face and the Business Show gives people the opportunity to do just that. We’ve had incredibly positive feedback from both exhibitors and attendees and I’m delighted to hear that real business was being done. It’s the biggest and most successful show in the area and so we’re extremely proud that it was such a great success again this year. Thank you to all our exhibitors and sponsors and to all who attended.”
