As 2019 draws to a close and we step into 2020 what has business been like for us in Swindon, Wiltshire and beyond?
We asked a number of voices from the Wiltshire business community how business has faired for them this year.
In this post we chat to Mark Lello, Partner at Sailsbury-based Parker Bullen.
What are your highlights of 2019?
We have recruited seven excellent trainees this year. We have started to develop a very positive relationship with the UK200Group which operates nationally and we are very proud of our new website. Overall, what I would say is I’m humbled by the spirit of ambition which we still have as a team, much of which comes from having taken part in the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business programme.
What’s coming up for Parker Bullen in 2020?
We will be continuing to grow our core business. We are creating great and effective leadership structures and we wish to be agile in our services to more closely serve our clients. Recruitment will be a theme. We have a strong leadership team and we will now be looking at the other staff tiers. We will continue to recruit trainees, develop our intellectual property function and possibly add corporate to our mix. We will also be looking for another litigator.
What are your predictions for the legal sector as we move into a new decade?
There will be an even greater push towards digitisation. We are not even close as a sector to the full extent of how clients will expect us to work. We have plans afoot to work with our clients digitally and remotely. I think we’ll continue to see the gradual demise of the ‘chargeable hour’. Clients will want fixed prices to give them certainty.
