Former Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Baroness Tessa Jowell will be speaking at the upcoming Women in Business Conference taking place on 8th March.
The former Olympics Minister has been announced as the second keynote speaker for an International Women’s Day event organised by The Enterprise Network (TEN) in Wiltshire and Swindon.
Dame Tessa will share her experiences with delegates and discuss her first government post as Public Health Minister, where she saw the inauguration of ministerial positions for women, as well as campaigning for equal opportunities for women in the workplace.
As Former Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Jowell was also a key supporter of the London Olympic bid from the start and played an instrumental role in bringing the games to Britain.
Hosted by The Enterprise Network (TEN), the conference is celebrating International Women’s Day 2016. The event will showcase entrepreneurial talent across Swindon and Wiltshire with a full day of conference, workshops and exhibition areas.
Taking place on 8th March, the event is returning for a second year following on from the success of the 2015 event which brought together women business owners from across the region to network with other like-minded business people.
Jol Rose, Development Officer at The Enterprise Network said: “Tessa Jowell is the perfect keynote to complete the line-up for our Women in Business Conference. She will be able to share her experiences of being a woman in government, and the difficulties of being accepted as an equal in a male-dominated world. She has been a pioneer for equal opportunities, regularly challenging and debating the issues that face women in business today.”
Jowell will be joining Sahar Hashemi OBE, Founder of Coffee Republic, as one of the day’s two keynote speakers.
The Women in Business Conference is taking place on Tuesday March 8, 2016 at the Bowood Hotel and Spa. Tickets are priced at £20 per person and can be purchased on the TEN website www.theenterprisenetwork.co.uk For more information please email Jolyon.Rose@wiltshire.gov.uk
