Debbie Williams, co-founder of John Williams Heating Services, will be one of the guest speakers at the launch of an initiative to create more apprenticeships in Wiltshire.
As an Apprenticeship Ambassador for the national Skills Funding Agency, Debbie is supporting Wiltshire Council as it looks to employers to increase apprenticeship opportunities in the county and also raise awareness so more candidates take up those opportunities.
Debbie said: “I believe passionately in apprenticeships as a fantastic way to build a career while learning on the job. Too many people see this route to a career as a poor second to continuing into higher education – I disagree with this. Apprenticeships are, and always have been, one of the best ways to get on the career ladder.”
John Williams Heating Services is one of Wiltshire’s leading heating and plumbing companies and has won numerous awards for best practice in business. Earlier this year the company was named Apprentice Employer of the Year in the Wiltshire Business Awards. Currently there are four apprentices in the John Williams team.
The Wiltshire Apprenticeships Campaign is being launched at The Atrium, County Hall, Trowbridge on Tuesday September 22 from 5.30pm to 7pm.
As an ambassador Debbie will share her experiences of mentoring and employing apprenticeships within the company she runs with her husband John.
