AM to PM is your exclusive insight into the busy schedules of some of Swindon and Wiltshire’s top professionals.

Nettl of Melksham is an all-encompassing design web and print studio serving a wide portfolio of local and national clients.

Managing Director Martin Burnett and his team have an in-depth knowledge of web and web based print systems, allowing Nettl to offer clients ground breaking ways to unleash their brand.

What time do you get up?

The alarm goes off at 6.30am. That’s if our youngest isn’t already jumping around his cot demanding his bottle!

What helps you to get your day off on the right foot?

It’s not always easy to resist the temptation to check your emails first thing, but I believe it’s important to keep work and family life separate. Knowing that everything is taken care of at home allows me to fully focus on work when I get to the office.

What’s the first thing you do when you get to the office?

Say good morning to the staff. I think it’s important to have a brief non-work related personal contact before we get swamped with the daily work load.

What helps your day run smoothly?

My team, and open and honest communication. Due to our clients varying demands structure sometimes has to go out the window so it’s vital that we all know our roles to ensure the client gets what they need when they need it.

What’s your favourite place to go for lunch?

Unfortunately I don’t always get the time to go out for a lunch break due to the demands of the job.

What is the best part about your job?

The best part is the interaction with different people. I find it fascinating what other people are doing in their business and if we can help them in their mission then I take great pride in that.

How do you set yourself up for the following day?

I hate leaving small tasks at the end of a day that would take a few minutes to complete so I try to make sure these are out of the way. I don’t like coming into work to finish off something that could have taken a few minutes the previous day. It always seems to take longer!

How do you unwind after work?

Family time and a well-earned treat! There is nothing better than twisting the top off a cold beer and relaxing at home with the family.
