A night time visitor has been captured on Salisbury’s CCTV

By Anita Jaynes on 6 July, 2020

A volunteer at Salisbury City Council’s CCTV hub was surprised when they caught sight of an otter enjoying a stroll down Salisbury High Street.

The recording, captured earlier this week at around midnight, appears to show an otter animatedly walking past shops such as New Look and Jones Bootmaker. The night time visitor can be seen making the most of an empty high street by exploring and doing a spot of window shopping.

The City Council is delighted that the city’s medieval high street is being enjoyed both day and night by a variety of visitors and the recording shows how skilled the CCTV operators are at noticing the unusual.

Salisbury City Council are seeking volunteers to monitor and operate the new state-of-the-art digital CCTV and radio system. If you have good communication skills, are able to work to a high standard under pressure and are committed to Salisbury’s security and public safety, then the team would love to hear from you.
