22 for ’22: Celebrating Swindon & Wiltshire’s Most Inspiring Women

By Anita Jaynes on 22 March, 2022

We’re celebrating Swindon and Wiltshire’s most inspiring women to mark International Women’s Day 2022 which this year took place on Tuesday 8th March.

Through our social media channels, we asked our readers which women in our community inspire them and created a list of 22 for ’22. The list is printed in our Feb/March magazine and from Tuesday 1st March, each weekday throughout the month we are profiling and championing each of these fantastic women online and via our social feeds.

Today we put the spotlight on Kate Westbrook, Partner and Head of Commercial at Thrings Solicitors in Swindon.

Kate has been part of the Thrings team since 2001, working her way up from Trainee Solicitor, to Solicitor, Partner, and Head of Commercial – a role she’s held for nearly three years.

She is one of the leading technology and contracts lawyers in the South West working with a range of technology businesses, from UK SMEs to multinational listed PLCs.

Kate is passionate about Swindon and Wiltshire’s tech community and provides training and support to early-stage and scale-up innovation businesses. She is a judge for the Techies Awards Swindon & Wiltshire and is also on the board at Tech Spark Swindon & Wiltshire.

Kate is an active and well-known member of the local community and outside of work is not only a busy mum, but is Chair of Governors at Swindon’s Grange Junior School. In addition to her responsibilities as Chair, she is the Governor Champion for Safeguarding and Maths.
