22 for ’22: Celebrating Swindon & Wiltshire’s Most Inspiring Women

By Anita Jaynes on 16 March, 2022

We’re celebrating Swindon and Wiltshire’s most inspiring women to mark International Women’s Day 2022 which this year took place on Tuesday 8th March.

Through our social media channels, we asked our readers which women in our community inspire them and created a list of 22 for ’22. The list is printed in our Feb/March magazine and from Tuesday 1st March, each weekday throughout the month we are profiling and championing each of these fantastic women online and via our social feeds.

Today we put the spotlight on Laura Philips, Founder of cancer support charity, We Get It.

Laura is a PE teacher from Corsham who set up the charity following her own cancer diagnosis in 2016. Here Laura tells her story.

We Get It hosts a number of events, get-togethers, workshops and more to support people dealing with cancer. It also runs poignant awareness campaigns such as ‘Get it Checked’ and ‘Scars for life’ which explore the physical and emotional scars caused by cancer.

Laura’s dream is to open a We Get It therapy centre and is actively seeking support to make this happen.
