Neda Macdonald is the newly appointed business centre manager for Fig Offices in Swindon. We met with Neda to find out more about Fig Offices and her role.
What is Fig Offices?
Fig Offices is the serviced office arm of FI Real Estate Management (FIREM), a fast growing UK-based property and asset management company. FIREM manage buildings throughout the country and identified within their portfolio a strong demand for smaller space, rather than whole floors. Fig Offices has been formed to satisfy this requirement and Swindon is Fig’s second centre in the UK.
Where are the Swindon Fig Offices located?
We are based on the ground and first floors of 3 Newbridge Square, which many will still know as the Tri Centre 3 building. It’s a landmark building in the town and sits well for business, retail and leisure. For commuters it’s ideal, with immediate access to the bus terminal and the railway station is only a couple of minutes walk away.
What do you offer ?
We have four key products. The main one is our serviced offices. These start from 1 person upwards and come fully furnished with IT and telecoms ‘ready to go.’ Each location also has a selection of meeting rooms, boasting the latest Clickshare technology allowing simple transfer from laptop to large screen monitors. We also offer a range of virtual office packages, where you can choose from a simple address service, right through to a bespoke package that includes meeting room and /or flexible office usage. Finally, there is our hot-desking or shared space, allowing clients to use our centre on an “as you need it” basis, whilst still being very much part of the Fig community.
What makes you different from other serviced offices ?
Our aim is to provide a contemporary environment based on traditional values. Rather than a hard sell, we offer a consultative approach. We tailor every deal to client requirements and won’t be offering a “50% off Summer sale”, or “discount if you sign by Friday.” This simply leads to short term tenants, who move out at their first renewal when the price goes up. Instead, Fig want long term relationships built on mutual trust.
What’s different about the Swindon centre ?
We know how important it is to businesses of all sizes to not only have a great address, but to also have high quality, modern offices that promote their company in the best possible way. Our investment in this building has created two contemporary floors at ground and first floor levels to a high specification which lifts the bar in Swindon’s serviced office market. At ground level, we offer our clients a choice of glass fronted meeting rooms with ample break-out space and contemporary kitchen facilities. At first floor level we provide 31 offices catering for 1 to 16 workstations with the majority of these benefiting from the maximum natural daylight. All our offices are equipped with new and stylish office furniture, finished in a striking Nordic Ash.
Where did the name Fig come from?
The brief was to come up with a name that was short, snappy, memorable and different. During the initial feasibility reports and costings, rather than referring to the company as FI Group, this shortened to Fig. After a while, with everyone using the name, it stuck. The added advantage was that we immediately got a corporate colour in fig purple, and a great logo.
What’s your role ?
I am the centre manager and my role is to ensure that our clients receive the best possible customer experience. I am based at the centre and always accessible to talk to our clients when needed. I take charge of the day to day running of the centre, including operations, finance, sales, marketing and customer service. An important part of my role is to instil and promote a community feel at our Swindon centre, so I also involve myself in encouraging clients to network via sporting activities, social and charity events. That way, it helps to create a friendly, happy and positive working environment that benefits everyone who works here.

Have you any other centres planned ?
We have just opened in Coventry and Gloucester, with further openings planned for later in the year…… so watch this space!
