Wiltshire Air Ambulance | South West Charity Conference 2024

By Ben Carey on 11 June, 2024

The Business Exchange South West Charity Conference & Expo returns to Bath Racecourse on Thursday 13th June 2024.

This year’s theme is ‘Driving Positive Change’, with sessions and conversations centring on societal issues and how we can all work collectively to make a difference in our community.

The annual Charity Conference started in 2019, and this year’s event is being delivered in partnership with our sponsors Milsted Langdon, St John’s Foundation and Stone King.

Attracting attendees and exhibitors from across the country including Devon, Dorset, Manchester and London, the Conference has grown to be a flagship event for the TBE network and promises a wealth of opportunities to connect, converse and contribute.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance is one of our exhibitors. We asked Corporate Partnerships Lead Naomi Barker to tell us more about the charity and its involvement on the day.

What does your organisation do?

Wiltshire Air Ambulance is a registered charity providing an essential Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) in Wiltshire, Bath and surrounding areas. The charity relies on donations to continue saving lives. It is not funded directly by the Government and receives no National Lottery grants. It costs £4.5 million a year to keep the lifesaving service operational, over £12,000 per day.

On average, Wiltshire Air Ambulance is called to three incidents a day to people who have suffered serious or life-threatening illnesses or injuries, including cardiac arrests, strokes or as a result of road traffic collisions. The expertise of its critical care team, the specialist medical equipment they use and the speed of the helicopter can mean the difference between life and death.

Why have you signed up for the Conference & Expo and what do you hope to gain from it?

We attended the TBE Charity Conference & Expo last year and made some valuable connections with other charities. We hope to do the same this year and collaborate further with other organisations. Since we attend a significant number of incidents in and around Bath, we’d also like raise awareness of the charity within the business community.

Are there any sessions you are particularly looking forward to?

We’re particularly looking forward to hearing from David Hobdey and how the charity embraces change to stay relevant, all whilst networking over a delicious breakfast!

What can people expect from your organisation on the day?

Visitors to our stand can find out about Wiltshire Air Ambulance, the service we provide and the different ways we work with the public, community groups and businesses. We’ll have some of our medical kit on show and a whole host of treats you can take away.
