Bath Racecourse will host The Business Exchange South West Charity Conference & Expo on Thursday 13th June 2024.
The theme for this year is ‘Driving Positive Change’, with sessions and conversations focusing on societal issues and the power of working together to make a difference in our community.
The annual Charity Conference started in 2019, and this year’s event is being delivered in partnership with our sponsors Milsted Langdon, St John’s Foundation and Stone King.
Attracting attendees and exhibitors from across the country including Devon, Dorset, Manchester and London, the Conference has grown to be a flagship event for the TBE network and promises a wealth of opportunities to connect, converse and contribute.
We Get It is one of the charities exhibiting at this year’s event. We asked Manager Dee Gerrish to tell us more about the organisation and what she’s looking forward to at the South West Charity Conference 2024.
Tell us about your charity
We Get It is a dynamic, inclusive support charity for anyone affected by cancer; any age, any gender, any cancer.
We’re on a mission to make sure that people living with cancer and beyond don’t do it alone.
Cancer’s tough, there’s no sugar-coating it, but it doesn’t have to define you. Our community members are proof of that. But there is no manual, and it’s hard
to know how to deal with a cancer diagnosis or treatment, so meeting people who understand, and listening and learning from them is invaluable. This is why we do what we do.
We create space to be real, whatever that means for you. Our community events are an open door where everyone is warmly welcomed.
What will you be promoting on the day?
Our charity ethos, support and incredible cancer community, including:
- We Get It’s new ‘We’re More Than Cancer’ campaign
- The We Get It Get Together – our weekly drop-in event, open to everyone dealing with cancer, plus their friends and family members
- Upcoming events
- Our Snowdon at Night Challenge, as well as other ways you can support and fundraise for our charity
What do you like about the South West Charity Conference & Expo?
There have been many speakers we have learnt from over the past years. In addition to this, we have enjoyed sharing and connecting with fellow attendees over the networking breakfast that kicks off the conference, and spreading the word about the support We Get It provides to people living with and beyond cancer from our exhibition stand.
What are you most looking forward to about the day?
The combination of meeting and chatting to visitors to the stand, reconnecting with fellow charity teams and learning from the insightful guest speakers.
