A one day working diary from rise and shine to lights out.
Every Tuesday we delve into the day-to-day diary of a member of the local business community. This week we put the spotlight on Natalie Luckham.
Natalie is the founder of Trowbridge based social media agency, Naturally Social. Natalie has over 8 years’ experience in local government and was one of the first social media officers in local government in the UK. She is now using her experience and passion for social media to show others how making meaningful relationships online can enhance brand reputation and customer satisfaction.
What time does your alarm go off?
Generally it’s 7am, but I do feel guilty sometimes and think perhaps it should be earlier?! But maybe that’s a hazard of being a small business owner…
What’s the first thing you do?
Check my phone and see what’s happened on social! Always!
What do you do for lunch?
I work from home, so if I’m not out with clients it’s whatever I have in the fridge. Nothing too crazy!
What do you love most about your job?
Doing something I love! I love the creativity, the pace, the relevance of social media and I love seeing results. I also get a huge amount of satisfaction working with my start up clients when they tell me I’ve taken the fear out of social media for them and they’re now excited about using Twitter for example (this seems to terrify people the most!)
What’s the worst part of the job?
I don’t think of it as there being a worst part of the job, perhaps the fact that things do constantly change and the ‘Always On’ nature of social can mean little, genuine, ‘off’ time – it’s more like a lifestyle choice in a way! But I’m ok with that, not many would be.
What executive tool/ gadget could you not live without?
My I-phone! I get very annoyed when I don’t know where it is!
What do you do after work?
Catch up with Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram 😉
If you changed direction, what would be your Plan B?
Teaching I think. I always wanted to be a teacher before I went to uni. The desire to earn money after my degree led me to Wiltshire… and the rest is history!
