A one day working diary, from rise and shine to lights out.
New for 2016, every Tuesday we delve into the day-to-day diary of a member of the local business community. This week we put the spotlight on Elsa Littlewood, partner at the Swindon office of RSM.
What time does your alarm go off?
What’s the first thing you do?
Go to my daughter’s bedroom and give her a kiss good morning – if she isn’t already in bed with me!
What do you do for lunch?
Grab something on the go, work, miss it… the usual!
What do you love most about your job?
Building a relationship that means my clients trust me to look after their personal and business ambitions. There is nothing more rewarding than finishing the day knowing you have helped them move ever closer to their goals.
What’s the worst part of the job?
Timesheets are a bit of a pain but as someone very learned once said to me – you are not too busy to get paid so you are not too busy to do your timesheet!
What executive tool/ gadget could you not live without?
I spent the first two weeks at RSM with no BlackBerry, not having 24/7 access to my emails and diary was very unnerving but I survived. A calculator is a must.
What do you do after work?
My job has the capacity (and sometimes the tendency) to be all-consuming so I make sure I leave in time for dinner with my family and the bedtime routine at least a couple of times a week. On those days it involves practicing spellings, bath time and bedtime stories.
If you changed direction, what would be your Plan B?
My husband is a theatre producer and I am pretty sure I have a West End hit in me somewhere.
